Library Sales Tax — Effective October 1, 2011
A sales and use tax increase of .25 percent will take effect October 1, 2011 in the City of Mt. Shasta, which will bring the local tax rate within the City Limits to 7.50 percent. The increase, which was voter-approved, will fund the continued operation of the Mt. Shasta Library.
The new tax will be collected by retailers if they:
- Operate within the city limits of Mt. Shasta City and sell or deliver merchandise within the area
- Have a business located in the area
- Deliver merchandise into the area using their vehicles
- Have a representative who takes orders, make sales and deliveries in the area
- Sell automobiles, boats or aircraft to customer who register them in the area
- Collect tax on lease payments from property used in the area
