The Animal Control Department is operated within the Mt. Shasta Police Department and handles all domestic animal calls within the City Limits of Mt. Shasta. Dog licenses are issued by this department every June, delinquent in July and are renewable on an annual basis.

Please be courteous of your neighbors and community by using a leash and picking up after your pets. Carry plastic gloves and a bag just in case!
Animal tethering is dangerous to the pet and punishable by fines and/or jail. Please us a trolley line or kennel.
Animals are not allowed downtown during special events for any reason (except service animals). Please leave your pets at home where they can remain cool and comfortable in the summer heat.
Animal Control Officer enforces (California Animal Law) and responds to:
- Public complaints: Such as Dog Bites, violations of Leash Law
- Animal Rescue
- Conflict resolution
- Education for pet owners
- Interdepartmental relations
- Contracts with Siskiyou Humane Society for: impounds, adoptions, they also provide microchip, education services, pet training.

Siskiyou Humane Society located in Mt. Shasta has a no kill policy. Please stop in and pick out a pet and give it a good home. You can also foster a pet to socialize it for someone else.
